Determines the extents of all points given
in pointlist;
pointlist must be a list of 2d or 3d points (mixed format is
allowed).
Returns a list of format (pLowerLeft pUpperRight);
if all points of pointlist are 3d points, the
returned pLowerLeft and pUpperRight
are 3d points.
