Creates freehand sketches.

Accessing the Command

command bar:  sketch

alias:  freehand

menu bar:  Insert | Sketch

toolbar:  Draw 2D |

Prompts you in the command bar:

Freehand:  Length of segments <0.1000>:  (Enter a number, or press Enter to accept the default.)

Press ENTER to end/Pen down/(Begin...) (Move mouse to create sketch. Press Enter to end.)

During sketching, the lines are green:

Press ENTER to end/Pen up/Quit/Delete on/Connect/Straight to cursor/Write to drawing/(Sketching...):  (Enter an option, or press Enter to exit command.)

Do not press Enter after entering an option!

Sketches are made from polylines.

Command Options

Option

Description

Length of segments

Specifies the length of segments.

Enter a number.

Too small a segment length results in large drawings.

Pen down

Draws as the cursor is moved.

Pen up

Allows you to move the pen without drawing.

Quit

 Exits the command without saving the sketch.

Delete on

Erases the sketch interactively.

Connect

Connects cursor to end of segment; prompts you:

Move cursor to end of last freehand segment - move the cursor to the end of a sketch.

This option is meant for use after a pen up, or when restarting the Sketch command.

Straight to cursor

Draws a straight segment to the current cursor location.

This option works only when the pen is  up.

Write to drawing

Saves the sketch; reports:

Writing freehand sketch to drawing.
