Creating diametrical and radial dimensions

Commands:  DIMDIAMETER and DIMRADIUS

Diametrical and radial dimensions annotate the radii and diameters of circles and circular arcs.

The DIMCENTER command creates center marks in the center point of circles and circular arcs.

To create a diametrical dimension

  1. Do one of the following

  2. Click the Diameter tool button () on Circles toolbar or the Circles flyout of the Dimensions toolbar.

  3. Choose Diameter in the Dimensions menu.

  4. Type dimdiameter in  the command bar, then press Enter.

The command bar reads: Select arc or circle

  1. Select the arc or circle you want to annotate.
    The diametrical dimension displays dynamically.

  2. Position the dimension line.

To create a radial dimension

  1. Do one of the following

  2. Click the Radius tool button () on Circles toolbar or the Circles flyout of the Dimensions toolbar.

  3. Choose Radius in the Dimensions menu.

  4. Type dimradius in  the command bar, then press Enter.

The command bar reads: Select arc or circle

  1. Select the arc or circle you want to annotate.
    The radial dimension displays dynamically.

  2. Position the dimension line.

Creating center marks or center lines

  1. Do one of the following

  2. Click the Center tool button () on Circles toolbar or the Circles flyout of the Dimensions toolbar.

  3. Choose Center in the Dimensions menu.

  4. Type dimcenter in  the command bar, then press Enter.

The command bar reads: Select arc or circle to dimension:

  1. Select the arc or circle.
    The center marks are created.

 

NOTE

  • The Center mark setting of the dimension style controls whether center marks or center lines are created.
    The Center mark size settings of the dimension style controls the size of the center mark.

  • The center mark settings are saved to the DIMCEN system variable.
