Drags major faces of solids while preserving connections with minor faces. Drags minor faces; optionally connects minor faces to major faces of other solids.

Accessing the Command

command bar:  bimdrag

menu bar:  BIM | Drag

Prompts you in the command bar:

Select several entities/subentities: (select a face of a solid)

Entities in set: 1

Select several entities/subentities: (select more faces, then right click or press Enter to stop selecting.)

 

 

Major faces (1) and minor faces (2).

Command Options

Option

Description

Major faces

Major Faces = 0n:

Moves the selected solid, while preserving connections with other solids.

Major Faces = Off:

Moves the selected faces only, thus changing the thickness (width) of the solid.

 

Press the Ctrl-key to toggle Major Faces ON/OFF.

If TIPS is ON the current state of Major Faces  is indicated in the Tips widget:

  • Major Faces ON:

  • Major Faces OFF:

Do one of the following:

  • Specify a point in the drawing.

  • Type a value in the dynamic dimension field.
    Press the TAB key to select a different reference face. The current reference face highlights.

Minor faces

Moves the selected faces, thus stretches the solid; optionally connects the selected faces to the nearest major face of another solid.

  • changes the length of a wall.

  • changes the height of a wall.

  • changes the dimensions of a slab.

If TIPS is ON the Tips widget displays:

  • Connect:

  • Stretch:

Do one of the following:

  • Specify a point in the drawing.

  • Type a value in the dynamic dimension field.
    Hit the TAB key to select a different reference face. The current reference face highlights. All faces which are parallel to the face being dragged are recognized, the nearest first. Press and hold the Shift key when hitting the TAB key to cycle reference faces in reverse order.

     

  • Press the Ctrl-key to connect to nearest major face of another solid.
    Then either right click to accept the connection or press the Ctrl-key again.
